We
rented a very comfortable lodge close to water. Through the window
we could see the sun rise and sun set and picture the neighborhood.
There are surf shops on beaches of Oahu. Pearl Harbor, Iolani Palace
(the only palace on American soil) and Diamond Head (an extinct volcano)
are the two main attractions on this island. We were admiring the big
waves at Pipeline Beach where the huge surf competitions are happening
every winter. The best place for swimming is Waimea Bay down the road
in Kailua. Here everyone can rent kayaks, windsurf or just relax on
a beautiful beach. These kinds of attractions are convenient for ocean
lovers.
There are sushi bars on the Oahu beaches. We are not fond of sushi, so
we headed to the local burger joint called Koa Aina for tasty burgers,
fish sandwiches and some of the best fries in the state. When you get hungry,
head over to Buzzes for a Mai Tai and Pupus (appetizers), they have outdoor
seating not far from the city beach. By the way, it’s an excellent
place to watch the sunset. You shouldn't forget to try some shave ice which
is a local favorite. We were overwhelmed by the rich culture and diversity
as well as the warm aloha spirit the Hawaiian island offers to us. The
historic royal palaces, museums and cathedrals as well as a vibrant nightlife
are at our disposal. The Ancient Pohaku or the Wizard Stones symbolizes
the spiritual heritage of the island. These attractions draw thousands
of tourists to flock at this magical place every year. With its many festivals
and events that occur throughout the year, Oahu absolutely justifies its
nickname – "The Gathering Place". The best time to visit
the Oahu Hawaii island and lie on the beaches is between mid-December and
mid-April. In fact, the last 2 weeks of December are ideal for visiting
Oahu. However, the accommodation rates are considerably lower from mid-April
to mid-June and from September to mid-December. The perfect weather for
your dream vacation will be during April and May as well as September and
October. It is better to rent a good lodge in April, of course. This tropical
paradise with sandy beaches is just for you and me.
